Missions Mojo
So, you’re keen to get into a bit of “mission action” huh? Well you’ve clicked on the right buttons and ended up reading what could propel you into a great future!
There’s a good line a rocking worship leader sings – “I’ll take your Word in my hand and I’ll give you TIME to come and meld me”. TIME is of the essence they say. And it’s TIME that always seems to slip us by at an accelerated pace. So my friend for you to get your mojo in the missions world, you need to invest some solid TIME into getting with God!
Our motto is this – TO KNOW GOD AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN. This is the essence of mission and the essence of a DTS – Discipleship Training School. Divided in two parts a DTS is designed to give you 3 solid months of soaking in the presence of God and letting His character rub off on yours. Then it’s time to go and live speak and love the character of God to the world.
We offer DTS courses all throughout the year in several locations up and down the country. At this site you can enquire into the variety of DTS we run. So enjoy the search.
God, speaking through the prophet Jeremiah says, “Who is he who will devote themselves to Me?”
Will you?
Welcome to the world of devotion.

Discipleship Training
The Purpose of the DTS
Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) aim to prepare messengers of the
Gospel, helping people to know God in depth. The goal is to form
Christian character while establishing Biblical relationships between
the student and God, and between the student and his/her family and
friends. The emphasis is on developing a daily walk with God rather
than to accumulate information.
The Purpose of the DTS is...
To GATHER and CHALLENGE people to worship, listen to and obey, releasing them (in the context of the DTS) to serve through evangelism, intercession, acts of compassion and other expression of God’s heart for the world, possibly even pioneering new ministries.
To INSPIRE and CULTIVATE growth in one’s relationship with God resulting in Christ like character, which is based on a solid Biblical foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit and the personal application of Biblical truth, especially concerning God’s Character, the Cross and empowering Grace.
To SHARPEN one’s ability to relate to, learn from and work with people, including those of different cultures, personalities and perspectives.
To further EQUIP each one to serve God’s purpose either in or outside of YWAM Family of Ministries, strengthening a commitment to reach the lost, especially the unreached, to care for the poor, and to influence all areas of society.
To IMPART the vision and foundational values of Youth With A Mission as well as that of the host operating location and to provide information regarding a variety of opportunities for service.

DTS Basic Structure
The DTS is a live-in course that is arranged in two parts consisting of
approximately twelve weeks of Lectures and twelve weeks of Outreach.
Small Groups and 'one on ones'
Much of the effectiveness of the course depends on participation in small groups and more focused discipleship in a one on one staff/student relationship.
The School Director and Leadership
The School Director is responsible to see that all the essential areas are covered during the Course. The Director and his/her team will meet regularly to seek "the mind of the Lord" on the day-to-day running requirements of the school as well as the needs of individual students. In general, the lectures provide depth, whereas the small groups and specific counselling further the application of truth to individuals ' lives.
The Outreach (‘Field Assignment’)
The Outreach is regarded as a vital part of the training programme. This is the time when the students are stretched to live out what they have learned – usually in a cross-cultural setting.

With the Ski Snowboard DTS, we are passionate about discovering the radical nature of our Creator and bringing this message to the slopes. For the first three months in New Zealand, we have cutting edge speakers share relevant and life-changing teaching, giving us tools to apply them into the snowboarding culture and the world around us. We mix up the schedule with a variety of activities to challenge and strengthen our relationship with God and with others, such as weekly small group interaction, classroom teaching, worship and intercession times, study time, community and base work duties, missions and outreach activities, as well as interaction with the local church and community. We hit the slopes a couple of times each week; on Wednesdays, we ride at Porters, and on Saturdays we head up to Mt Hutt! There are also various opportunities to explore this beautiful country during our free time. Take the leap and join us for this exciting season on the mountains! SDTS Outreach Following our time in Zealand, teams head out for up to 10 weeks to countries such as China, India, Jordan, Israel, Chile, Argentina, Indonesia and the Pacific Islands. Teams reunite in New Zealand for a debriefing time and graduation. Outreach is a time of tremendous evangelism where we can put into practice what we’ve learned in the lecture phase. Dramas, skits, music, sports and discussion will be used on the streets, in schools and churches to proclaim the name of God and to tell people this much needed truth |

This DTS is guaranteed to spoil you for the ordinary in your own relationship with Jesus & prepare you for a life time of whole hearted devotion to Him in whatever sphere you have a passion for. The strategic alliance between YWAM Campaigns & the Tauranga House of Prayer is one of the exciting tangible expressions of what is emerging between the global prayer & mission movements. Students will not only be immersed in the presence & power of God in the House of Prayer but also be part of proclaiming the good news of Jesus amongst the nations in word & deed. The scriptures are bathed in examples of this very reality. We believe that authentic and lasting impact comes out of a place of deep and satisfying intimacy with God. The outreach options (subject to change) for this DTS will be exciting opportunities within the Asia/Pacific region. The school director is Joshua Cole (NZ) who has been involved in city/nationwide Impact World Tour evangelistic campaigns in NZ & Fiji & is currently helping launch the IWT South Korea campaigns. He also serves on the Tauranga House of Prayer Leadership Team. His wife Misty (USA) has been a prophetic singer at IHOP & helped coordinate IHOP conferences/events before moving to NZ and marrying Josh in 2006. | start date: | Oct. 3, 2010 | ||||||||
| finish date: | Mar. 11, 2011 | ||||||||
| description: | In putting together this particular DTS, we have had to take into consideration two points of view regarding backpacking: Europeans would portray a backpacker as one who prefers budget travel and accommodation, flexible travel agendas, and the opportunity to meet other travellers in a relaxed and informal setting. On the other hand, North American culture would describe a backpacker as a person who loves to camp and hike in the great outdoors. They enjoy the wilderness, use vehicles and campers for transport, and build their own fires to prepare meals. For the Backpackers DTS, YWAM Oxford has combined the two. We give opportunities for those hard-core backpackers who thrive on multiple-day tramps and sleep in huts or tents. Whereas, others choose to stay in backpacker hostel dorm-style living with communal kitchen facilities. Both of these scenarios are ideal for meeting fellow travellers. Meaningful conversations can occur on the top of a mountain, on a trail, or while preparing dinner for your team over a campfire or in a hostel kitchen. Over 350,000 people from all over the world backpack across New Zealand each Summer. This presents a wonderful opportunity for friendship evangelism. If this sounds like your passion, the Backpacker DTS is for you! Vision Statement Our vision is to radically impact, with the good news of Jesus Christ, to all who are backpackers and those who are called to reach out to these intrepid adventurers, by way of discipleship training, relational evangelism and short term mission trips. |

| description: | Do you want to manage and care for natural resources and the environment? The EarthCare DTS introduces students to a Biblical approach to managing and caring for natural resources and the environment. It will make this approach real to the students, by giving them hands-on experience in working with poor villagers in a developing country to improve their agricultural practices and their lives. The course aims to give students an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God and discover new ways to reach out with Christ’s compassion to those who are oppressed, poor or disabled in rural communities. EarthCare focuses on God as Creator and sustainer of the earth. EarthCare students will develop skills in working with poor rural communities to develop ways to improve their land, gain first-hand experience of conditions in a developing country, and learn how to share their faith in practical ways. Students will participate in aspects of : 1. Training poor rural communities in simple sustainable agriculture technologies. 2. Testing, monitoring and demonstrating appropriate EarthCare practices. 3. Teaching the foundational Biblical principles of EarthCare. 4. Evangelism through word and action to bring the good news of Jesus Christ The teaching phase will be based in Oxford, New Zealand with some weeks in other community based and wilderness areas.
